Modern Therapy That Actually Works

Modern Therapy That Actually Works

If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and do the work, we’re ready to be your biggest ally! Together, we will explore the familiar roles that you take on and whether or not these roles align with your values.

While we work hard to ensure you feel supported and comfortable in therapy - part of our being on your team is confronting when we observe inconsistencies between your actions and values. This is how a quality therapist is different than a friend; we don’t always tell you what you’re looking to hear. We tell you the truth. And isn’t that why you’re here?

  • Anxiety

We help our clients with anxiety by: educating about it’s adaptive qualities, validating the discomfort & distressing parts of it, identifying triggers and your own physical cues, learning how anxiety impacts your thoughts and behaviors, and creating a new relationship with it all. We incorporate mindfulness, guided imagery, and breathing exercises to give you the tools to self soothe. Most of our clients learn to accept and sit “next to” their anxiety, rather than feeling suffocated by it.

  • Self-Esteem

Identity work in therapy requires an in-depth look at how you view yourself and the world around you. We look into the subtext of the messages and stories you received about who you are and how that’s impacting you and your relationships. We create a space to rewrite the narrative: examining what are the messages that you want to leave behind and what are the ones you want to take with you.

  • Couples

Couples therapy provides a unique opportunity to pause when an old habit arises and intentionally shift to make new choices and patterns. We work with couples on learning how to fight better, love deeper, and communicate more often. We take from the Gottman Method, emotion-focused therapy, and IFS when working with couples.

  • Depression

When treating depression, we believe in understanding how your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors are creating a destructive cycle. We help you disentangle yourself from your negative and irrational thoughts and explore deep rooted core beliefs that are weighing you down.

  • Grief

Grief comes in many forms: death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job, a severed friendship, dementia, loss of good health, etc. It’s common for people to feel that they aren’t grieving “correctly”, so we educate about what “normal” grief is and how it impacts identity. We guide you in conceptualizing your new relationship with yourself, as well as with what or whom you’ve lost, so that you can integrate the loss into your life with newfound meaning.

  • Trauma

There’s a lot of misconceptions about what “trauma” really is. We work with clients in educating them on trauma from a neurological perspective. Together, we slowly take bite sized chunks and process them at a speed that feels safe for you. We use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy) to help you rewrite your narrative and gain traction when talk therapy seems to fall short.
